My areas of interest have included both the design and the development elements of this industry.

Over the years, and as my experience level grew, there were opportunities that presented themselves that would have allowed me to go to work for some larger design firms. The more I grew in this industry, the more unwilling I became to even considering going to work for a larger firm. As a freelancer, I've come to realize a certain potential for growth that a larger firm would never be able to provide.

The hours spent putting together a web solution for a client can be long, and having the ability to take a break at any odd hour of the day or night, from the work in my office, can take the edge off.

Being able to recharge, even though the deadlines can be hectic, could be one of the secrets to my success in this industry. Working for a large design firm would never allow for the kind of freedom and creativity I can experience when working for myself.

Freelancing also allows for travel. At any point during the week, one might find me mulling over pie and coffee, discussing design possibilities with a client in Tulsa, Oklahoma, or Missoula, Montana, or even Dallas, Texas. I'm a social creature, in that I love to visit with my clients, when ever and where ever I can.

The internet, is often misunderstood by many would-be website owners. To that end, I'll spend the time required to help the potential client understand that the internet, and web design isn't as difficult as some web designers would have them imagine. I've had those who would come to me wanting a development solution that they unknowingly already had. Education, on even some of very the basic things, with regard to website development, is the order of the day.
